Former ANC chief whip Tony Yengeni will be a free man in just eight days. This after he only spent 20 weeks of his four-year jail term behind bars.
Yengeni was sentenced to four years in jail after being convicted of fraud relating to his acceptance of a discount on a luxury vehicle in a multi-billion dollar rand arms deal.
However there have been allegations of a party that was held at the Malmesbury Prison on Christmas Day but this is not the first time of allegations of preferential treatment.
Yengeni was also accused of violating his parole conditions.
Correctional Services Portfolio Committee Chairperson, Dennis Bloem says that if anyone has evidence that Yengeni received special treatment in prison they should lay formal charges.
Yengeni is to be released from prison on the 15 of January 2007.
