The Western Cape Health MEC Theuns Botha on Tuesday opened the newly constructed Vredendal Emergency Medical Service unit, worth about R6.5 million.

Rural communities on the West Coast will now have access to improved ambulance services in Vredendal.

The unit is expected to supply emergency medical services to about 70 000 residents in the area and the neighboring towns.

The MEC’s Spokesperson Helene Rossouw said that the people of the West Coast will have a fully equipped ambulance station in Vredendal and they will also have a satellite ambulance station in Beterfontein.
