Hlengiwe Mkhize- ICT skills are essential

The Innovation Africa Summit got underway in Cape Town on Friday.
 The summit seeks to address new ideas that will ensure development in Education and Research in Africa. 
 Economic Development Deputy Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize today told delegates that the ICT sector is one of the most important economic growth drivers that will enable the department to create much needed jobs in our country.
 Mkhize said that the leaders in education need to have a deeper understanding of the ultimate skills needs of the employment sector, so as to assist them to make sure they produce the relevant and required skills.  
 She added that the department of education should ensure that computer skills are taught in all secondary schools and form part of the standard adult basic education and training curriculum by 2015.
