Investigation into the Nkandla upgrade welcomed

The Public Protector Thuli Madonsela on Sunday confirmed that an official investigation into the alleged public funded construction at President Jacob Zuma's private home in Nkandla.

The construction is estimated that it will cost tax payers about R200 million.

The Democratic Alliance said this is the first of many investigations that will need to be initiated to ensure that the President is held fully accountable for his exorbitant and unnecessary cash splurge of taxpayer’s money.

DA Parliamentary Leader Lindiwe Mazibuko said that they will request that the Speaker grant a debate of public importance on this matter, to allow for Members of Parliament to discuss and debate the upgrade.
