Anglo Platinum on Friday fired about 12000 striking workers.

The striking miners were notified through text messages of their dismisals.

The strike has been going on for three, with the miners demanding a R12,000 wage increase.

Since the strike began about two people have lost their lives.

The National Union of Mineworkers  Secretary General Frans Baleni said they are shocked at these violent incidents.

Baleni added that there has to be a stop to these violent actions.
