Equal Education has today won a court bid, compelling the Basic Education minister to publish norms and standards for school infrastructure.

The Eastern Cape High Court has ordered Minister Angie Motshekga to publish a draft of the guidelines for public comment by September.

This means that mud schools in the country could be a thing of the past.

Equal Education said it will continue to mobilise to ensure that the court order is complied with.

EE’s General Secretary Brad Brockman said they have been campaigning for the Minister to adopt legally binding standards for school infrastructure for a long time.
