Five suspects arrested for robbery in Mitchell’s Plain

Western Cape police on Sunday said five people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a fast food outlet in Mitchell's Plain, on Saturday.

Spokesman Lt Col Andrè Traut said two armed suspects entered the establishment on Saturday and demanded cash from the staff.

The suspects then fled the scene on foot with a cash register, police spotted them getting into a green VW minibus.

Traut said that a shootout ensued between the armed robbers and the police and one of the robbers was wounded.

He also added that the wounded robber was admitted to hospital and is currently under police guard.

“They will make a court appearance after they have been charged,” said Traut.
