A shack fire this morning in Nonkqubela, Khayelitsha has left five people homeless no one was injured.

Disaster Risk Management Centre Spokesperson Wilfred Solomons Johannes said the cause of the fire is unknown at this stage but local authorities are investigating.

Solomons-Johannes added that the operators of the surveillance centre watched the event happen and dispatched fire brigade services swiftly.

“This stopped the fire from spreading; the Disaster teams went there this morning to assist the affected parties” Solomons-Johannes added.
