Transport minister shocked at death of 15 people in an accident

The Minister of Transport Ben Martins has expressed shock and sadness following the death of 15 people in the North West On Sunday.

Fifteen people were tragically killed on R510 road.  

It is alleged that a light motor vehicle collided with a bus at Sandfontein village off ramp.

Ministerial Spokesperson Tiyani Rikhotso said that the Minister would like to send his sincere and heartfelt condolences to families of those who have lost their lives and also wished those who got injured a speedy recovery.

“The minister also continues to call on members of the public to act responsibly when they are using the roads,” added Rikhotso.

He also added that the minister believes that if there is a continued understanding between the government, private sector and civil society then it is surely possible to see a reduction in the number of road fatalities.
