Five SADTU members attend Education International’s World Women Conference

The South African Democratic Teachers Union sent five union members to the Education International’s World Women Conference which was held in Dublin, Ireland. 

Sadtu Spokesperson Nomusa Cembi said the conference looked at concerns faced by women in education across the world. The conference is the second hosted by EI. 

Cembi added that some of the workshops that are going to be held will include looking at questions like women leadership in education trade union creating an inclusive environment within trade union in the classroom.

“Teacher’s union taking the lead in addressing school related gender based violence and girl’s education like increasing participation and retention and completion of girls. We know girls do not complete their education as well as men and also looking women in higher education,” Cembi said.
