The African National Congress
in the Western Cape welcomed the decision by the City of Cape Town to withdraw
the notices terminating lease agreements with 26 tenants living in City-owned
properties along South Road in Wynberg.
ANC’s Cameron Dugmore said
this is a victory for the families and all those who have supported them, and
called for a genuine dialogue about the proposed route for the Phase 2 of the
MyCiTi/BRT roll-out.
“I don’t think the struggle is
over yet. What now needs to happen and this what the ANC is calling for is the
setting-up of an inclusive task team to explore all alternatives.
But I’m sure if people work to
together, the solution can be found which will unite people of Wynberg and also
be in the interest of the roll-out of MyCiTi project,” Dugmore added.
