With respect to the arrest of Mayor Helen Zille, the ANC is of the view that the law must take its course. The ANC is confident in the ability of the South African Police Services to perform their duties in difficult circumstances.
“The ANC is of the view that the law must take its course with respect to the arrest and charging of Mayor Zille,” says ANC Provincial Spokesperson Garth Strachan.
He goes on to say that they think there is a fine dividing line between working with communities to build support for the SAPS and fighting crime and on the other hand vigilantism
“Mayor Zille is standing on the wrong side of that line. We urge her to work with the SAPS and the communitie organisations,” says Strachan.
