A Cape Town man tried to commit suicide this morning after allegedly killing four members of his family, including two small children.
Police say Khayelitsha community members handed the 25-year-old after he murdered four family members.
A knife and spade found on the scene had apparently been used to commit the murders.
The man drank battery acid and is being treated in hospital under police guard.
