A toxic red tide on the West Coast has resulted in a rock lobster walkout near Lamberts Bay and Elands Bay.

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries officials have collected around one-ton of live rock lobster.

Department spokesperson Lionel Adendorf says this is the third walkout this week.

Adendorf added that there is nothing they can do as this is a natural occurrence.
