The wave of strikes in the country is now also affecting the vehicle production industry.

Toyota has confirmed that an illegal strike has halted production at Toyota's manufacturing plant in Durban for the last three days.

Spokesperson Leo Kok says no production is taking place at the moment.

The plant produces 120-thousand vehicles a year, with 50-percet of the cars destined for the export market.

Meanwhile, the Chamber of Mines on Thursday has denied claims that it is opening wage negotiations early.
