SJC urges City of Cape Town to resolve wage payment for janitors

The Social Justice Coalition has called on the City of Cape Town to halt intimidations of workers and resolve wage payment failures.  This follows the SJC being called to a protest which was organised by 80 janitors in Khayelitsha.

The janitors have been protesting because of payment issues and a lack of communication from the city to address their legitimate concerns and threats from the project manager.

SJC’s Axolile Notywala said the Janitors gave their concern to the project manager and they want a response by no later then Friday 22 March 2013.

Notywala added that the SJC will still continue to monitor the situation and try to help where it can.

Notywala said they have sent letters to the City to intervene in the matter because it is not the job of SJC to solve the problems of the janitors.
