The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape said it applauds the sentence handed down by the Wynberg Magistrate Court to a man who raped his 13-year-old niece.

ACDP Spokesperson in the province Ferlon Christians said the sentencing sends the message that the judiciary is serious about protecting women and children, and that rape offenders will receive the long arm of the law.

Christians added that specialized sex crime court must be fast track by Minister Xingwana.

Christians also said they want the Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa to train the Police Officials to work with the victims of rape effectively.
