The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape has called on the provincial government to do everything in its power to deliver houses so that shack fires can be eliminated.

ACDP Provincial Spokesperson Ferlon Christians said people who live in informal dwellings are always at risk in losing their lives due to shack fire.

This as one person died and several people left displaced over the weekend in Fish Hoek due to a shack fire.

“We were informed that again we had a fire and a resident lost all its possessions for the third time, we are calling on the DA to provide houses for these people, we believe that they have the right to housing and also believe they should prevent fires in the future.” Christians added.
