The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape has condemned the ruling that a convicted child pornographer received a reduced sentence.

75-year-old Johannes Kleinhans was convicted on 95 counts including producing child pornography and sexual assault and was last year sentenced to fifteen years.

Today the Western Cape High Court reduced his sentence to four years.

ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon Christians said as a society we need to clamp down hard on perpetrators.

Christians said this is a serious problem and the ACDP has been calling and doing it again for this to be overturned.

Christians said we cannot deter perpetrators of serious crimes like pornography if we do not give heavy sentences.

“The ACDP in the Western Cape is calling that this light sentence will be overturned and that he will get a heavier sentence irrespective that the perpetrator is 75 years old Christians added.
