Western Cape Police Ombudsman Advocate Vusi Pikoli
will today embark on a community visit in Hermanus to shed light on the mandate
of the office and safety issues.
The office of the Ombudsman which has been in
existence since January this year, was established by Premier Helen Zille
following the Commission of Inquiry into policing in Khayelitsha.
Advocate Pikoli says this should be seen in the
light of the need of communities to be involved in drawing up the policing needs
and priorities of provinces which will then form part of the national policing
policy.
