The body of a 10-year-old boy was recovered from a canal near Site 5 informal settlement at Doornbach near Table View on Sunday.
“The five boys all aged ten and eleven years old, went swimming on Saturday afternoon at about 3pm. One of the boys disappeared under the water according to the other four boys,” says police spokesperson Inspector Billy Jones.
He says the other four boys were not injured and reported the matter to police and a search for the boy was immediately launched.
"Police diver’s were unable to recover the body on Saturday evening and therefore commenced with the search on Sunday morning," says Jones
The body was found on Sunday morning at 11:30. No foul play is suspected and police have opened an inquest case docket.
