Police say a suspect in his thirties has been taken in for questioning following the disappearance of an eight-year-old girl in Calitzdorp in the Klein Karoo.
Charmaine Conradie went missing last Friday after she went to play at a dumping site with a friend.
Police spokesperson Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe says the man was arrested while he was helping with the search for Charmaine.
“He basically acted suspiciously when he was approached by the police. He ran and we chased him, we caught him and detained him for questioning,” says Mangqwengqwe.
Mangqwengqwe says the man can only be kept until today because his 48 hours for questioning are about to expire.
