A 36-year old male has reportedly drowned at Brighton Beach, Port Elizabeth on Saturday morning at 5:50am while fishing with friends.
According to the National Sea Rescue Institute the man was believed to have been swept into water by waves while angling from rocks with friends.
“NSRI rescue craft, Boardwalk rescuer was launched and rescue swimmers commenced the search for the body,” says NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon.
During the search the man’s body was found and recovered in the surf line by NSRI rescue swimmers and brought to shore.
Lambinon added that the body of the man was handed over to police and declared dead on the scene.
