Top ten traffic offenders nabbed

Cape Town Traffic Services have successfully seized it’s top ten traffic offenders and collected most of the outstanding fines.

Merle Lourens, Media spokesperson for Cape Town Traffic Services, adds that during the week of April 26 to 30, a total of 493 warrants were executed to the value of R412 690.
From 5 to 9 May, another 841 warrants to the value of R653 950 were executed.

Amongst the ten lawbreakers, Western Cape taxi boss, Junaid Peters, had been issued with 32 warrants.

“Of the R24 350 worth of fines owing by Mr Peters, he has since paid R11 140, but still has another 12 outstanding warrants to the value of R7 900 which will be executed as soon as a new court date is given,” says Lourens.

Meanwhile, the City has issued a new list of top ten offenders who owe a total of R184 620 in outstanding fines. Their vehicle numbers are:

“We will not relent in apprehending these people.”

Members of the public are urged to report them to the Metro Police Control Centre at 0860 765 423.
