Gugulethu police have welcomed the implementation of sector policing, saying that the community works well with police.

This has led to the increase in arrests. Between 10-19 May, 319 suspects were arrested for serious crimes such as: murder, robbery, rape, possession of drugs, burglaries, drunken driving, theft of motor vehicles and warrant of arrests. Police say that people have responded well to the campaign.

Further more, programme Bambanani will be launched at Ikhwezi Community centre on May 23. Community members are invited to the launch.

As part of the campaign, 26 lockable suggestion boxes have been distributed to various structures including Primary and High Schools.

According to Gugulethu police, “These boxes are meant to insert any message whether is a complaint, compliment or suggestions. My office will be responsible to collect all the information in those suggestion boxes and thereafter analysed by the Management of the station”.
