In the coming weeks there is a possibility that consumers could pay less for bread and flour.

Yesterday the Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel said Pioneer Foods has been fined R250 million for price fixing.

He also added that company pleaded guilty to price fixing and exclusionary practices.

Pioneer Foods has now signed an agreement with the Competition Commission in which it agrees to drop the net price of certain staple foods.

It also has to fork out hundreds of millions more to enhance competition in the food sector.
