The Education Department has announced today that government is reviewing the country’s school grading system.
The department’s Acting Deputy Director-General Paddy Padayachee said “what prompted the rethink is that in most cases they find more poor learners are moving into Model C schools”.
She added that the policy needs to be reviewed in that we need to look at the actual learner and the socio-economic background the learner comes from.
Some of teachers in our country are claiming that schools in non-affluent areas are struggling to get larger portions of grants from the department.
