Yesterday the Western Cape Community Policing Board said it agreed with parliamentarians that the process of promoting SAPS staff should be a more transparent one.
Parliament’s Police Committee took on SAPS acting chief Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and his team on allegations that promotions were filled with nepotism.
MPs said the process should be changed to ensure senior officers are kept out of the interviewing processes.
Sindisiwe Chikunga Chair of the committee said they have a number of complaints about nepotism and promotion of unqualified individuals.
