The IFP says they believe the South African Democratic Teachers Union has too much control over the Gauteng Education Department.

IFP spokesperson on education Alfred Mpontshane says that an Ekurhuleni Workshop for teachers was disrupted this week after the union stormed in and demanded that teachers from Kathlehong, Vosloorus and Boksburg abandon the workshop.

The union claimed it was school holidays and no workshops were supposed to be held.

Mpontshane says Sadtu are causing havoc within the education system which will be to the detriment of learners in Gauteng.
