The Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies today delivered a key note address at the handover ceremony of the big boats to the Hout bay Fishing Co-opratives in Houtbay.
Department Spokesperson Sidwell Medupe said the department has been involved in the support of the Fishing Cluster Project in the West Coast.
Medupe also said that the project intends to broaden the participation of small scale fishing communities to higher commercial value activities in the value chain.
He added that the main objective of the fishing cluster project in the West Coast region is to create a sustainable and viable fishery industry.
