The sea rescue volunteer duty crew was activated following reports of a crayfish bakkie experiencing a snapped propeller shaft offshore of slangkop lighthouse, Scarborough, with two fishermen on board.

NSRI’s Craig Lambinon said their NSRI Kommetjie volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched their sea rescue craft Spirit of the winelands and their sea rescue vechile responded.

Lambinon added that when the NSRI arrived on scene they found them actually off Oliphant’s Bos Punt which is through the south towards the Cape Point’s nature reserve, a to line was rigged and both men were found to be safe.

“And despite very rough sea conditions and strong south easterly offshore winds they were towed to the cray fish factory slip way and recovered safely,” Said Lambinon.
