Three Killed In R59 Head On Collision

Three people were killed late last night on the R59 near Blockhouse when two vehicles collided head on with each other.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak reported that at approximately 11pm paramedics arrived on the scene where they found two vehicles with severe damage, two men believed to be between 40 and 50 years old were found with fatal injuries in one of the vehicles.

There was nothing paramedics could do for them and they were declared dead on the scene, a female passenger in one of the vehicles was found with moderate injuries.

 Paramedics treated her for various injuries before transporting her to a nearby hospital, she was the only survivor in the collision.

“The exact cause of the collision is not yet known, however it is understood that one of the vehicles apparently lost control and veered through the centre median colliding with oncoming vehicles” said Vermaak. 

Local authorities attended the incident and will conduct an investigation into the exact cause.
