Plans to help pupils make up for lost time during the public service strike has still not begun according to SA democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU).
Sadtu handed the provincial government a memorandum yesterday calling for the dismissal of Education MEC Cameron Dugmore and listing grievances.
Although SADTU had welcomed the recovery plan, it rejected the salary to be paid to teachers for weekend classes.
“It will be about R42 an hour for some. Some may get R70. You cant expect people to work at the weekend for for R40 an hour,” says provincial chair of SADTU, Sabelo Mali.
The union is also unhappy about the about the one-sided reduction in the number of schools included in the recovery plan.
