On Sunday the 9th of September Democratic Alliance Leader and Cape Town Mayor Helen Zille was arrested for obstructing justice and disobeying the gatherings act.
Helen Zille and other community members of Mitchells Plain were having a march against drugs dealers in the area, and they violated their instructions and this led to the arrest of nine people including Zille.
“Apparently during the march, one of the violated the march stipulations, by entering the premises of an alleged drug dealer, this led to the arrest of the organiser and later the arrest of Zille, who had gone to the police station protesting against the arrest, “said police spokesperson Elliot Sinyangana.
Helen Zille has vowed to sue the police.
