Three suspects including a 16-year-old boy have been arrested in connection with the attack and gang-rape of a doctor.
The incident happened over the weekend at a hospital in the Free State, where the doctor was on duty.
The Health Professions Council has applauded the police for working hard in catching the suspects.
The HPCSA says this is the second attack, following an attack of two emergency care workers who were attacked earlier this year on the West Rand while attending to an emergency.
The council says it is sad and terrible that healthcare practitioners are becoming targets of criminals.
