The National Sea Rescue Institute in Plettenberg Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated following reports of a swimmer being swept out to sea by rip currents at Natures Valley.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the Plettenberg Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched the sea rescue craft RAY FARNHAM RESCUER and responded.

Lambinon said on arrival on-scene a 25 year old East London man was found approximately 1.2 km off-shore caught in rip currents and he was rescued onto the Sea Rescue craft and brought to shore.

He added he was reunited with family and medically checked and found to be not injured and he required no further assistance.
