Unlike previous years, wage discussions in the chemical industry were concluded peaceful last week.

Solidarity has already signed agreements in the petroleum and industrial chemicals sectors, and negotiations in the glass sector are set to be finalised on today.

“Solidarity is very satisfied with the fact that we were able to sign the wage agreement with all the companies in the chemical industries in South Africa,” says Solidarity spokesperson Jaco Kleynhans.

Kleynhans says the strike in the industry has been very long, but at the end of the day they negotiated the 8% wage increase for the members with an additional 0,5% increase.
