Work on the new Green Point Stadium is on track and ready for handover by the contractors to the City of Cape Town on December, 14, 2009. Construction of the new stadium started just over two years ago in March 2007.
The City’s Pieter Conjie says things are going well and they have completed all of the concrete construction work and contractors are just busy with the detailed internal finishing.
“This should all be finished by the beginning of September after which we will have a proper roof wetting ceremony,” said Conjie
“Winter rain and wind will have an affect on the stadium, but we have planned for this in our production schedule and we do not believe that it will have any major affect on impact on the timeline and the delivery dates of the stadium,” said Conjie
