The Western Cape Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union has welcomed the conviction of Walden Willemse who was charged of murder after killing a police officer in 2012.

Warrant Officer Peter Michael Roux’s body was discovered near his car in Worcester.

Popcru Provincial Secretary Mncedisi Mbolekwa said the killing of police cannot be tolerated anymore.

Two weeks back a police officer from Kraaifonetin was murdered while she was attending to a crime scene.

Mbolekwa said anyone killing a police officer will rot in jail, and killing police officers is a war against the state.
