Cosatu condemns all forms of violence

Cosatu is informed that one of employee went into the building and randomly opened fire on the employees in the departments injuring three and killing two and thereafter turning the gun on himself.

Cosatu condemns all forms of violence but at the same time calls on all the managers to handle matters which are related to employees with sensitivity and diligence.

North West Provincial Secretary of Cosatu Solly Phetoe said Cosatu condemns violence in the work place particularly in terms of what happened in the Department of Human Settlements and the Department of Economic Affairs.

Phetoe said we learnt that one of our members was emotionally disturbed with regards to what the employer did to him by not paying him the bonuses due to him in terms of his birthday and accusing the worker of absenteeism.

“We at Cosatu are saying that is not how managers should deal with their employees Phetoe added.
