Lusanda Bill

The Department of Social Development and the Department of Labour will from now be visiting old age homes across the country to inspect and enforce safety.
Deputy Minister of Social Development Bathabile Dlamini said yesterday, "We cannot afford to lose lives, not even one soul. Nobody must die under our care. We have committed to all South Africans that this government will be caring government, and that is why I am saying we will ensure all our facilities are safe for habitation."
This visit by the two departments comes after 22 elderly people died in a horrific fire at the Pieter Wessels old age home on Sunday night.
On Wednesday afternoon only seven bodies had been identified out of the twenty two who died. The elderly people who survived the fire have been accommodated at other old age homes.
