A bomb scare takes place at Tygerberg Station

Metrorail regional manager in the Western Cape Mtutuzeli Swarts confirmed the bomb scare at Tygerberg Station.

Swarts said that when a bomb scare occurs it must be investigated and precautionary measures must be taken to ensure that people’s lives aren’t put at risk.

He added that when Metrorail received the bomb scare, the police were called in and stopped all trains at Tygerberg Station.

He added that police searched the trains and the parameter of the station.

People were also escorted off trains and off the platforms for their own safety.

Swarts added that as soon as police finish their investigation trains would continue as normal.

He also said that no trains were cancelled, but trains were delayed because of the incident.

Trains have since continued on the Northern Line.
