Two people have been arrested
in connection with a burglary at the Simon's Town naval base
Hand grenades, firearms and
ammunition were stolen during the break-in last weekend. Hawks Head,
Berning Ntlemeza has confirmed the stolen weapons have also been recovered.
The Hawks' Lloyd Ramovha says that they can
confirm that an overnight blitz by the Hawks and crime intelligence has
resulted in the arrest of two suspects aged 18 and 26 early this morning for
their suspected involvement in the naval base burglary over the weekend.
Western Cape Community Safety MEC, Dan Plato claims
this is the third break-in at the base this year. Plato says the theft of guns
will have a severe impact on the safety of Western Cape residents, because
the weapons will most likely end up in the hands of gangsters.
