Three men are to appear in court on Monday after the body of the missing Swartland Municipal traffic officer, Japhta Sauls, had been found in bushes with stab wounds.
The trio from Atlantis face charges of murder and theft of a vehicle in the Atlantis Magistrates Court. Detectives on Thursday took the men, aged between22 and 26, in for questioning on Thursday.
Superintendent Billy Jones confirmed that on Friday the men took police to where Japhta Sauls’ body was found in a bush along Silverstream Road, Atlantis. Sauls had four stab wounds to his chest.
Jones says the traffic officer was last seen on May 25 when he took family members to Touws Rivier. He did not return the next day, this is when he was reported missing.
Four days later his bakkie was found amongst bushes, not far from his home with traces of blood on the inside of the windscreen.
Sauls leaves behind his wife and five children.
