A 26-year-old man died after falling four floors down a lift shaft of a Cape Town apartment building on Saturday.
Netcare911 spokeswoman Lauren Copley said “the accident took place at an apartment block on the corners of Roeland and Buitenkant streets. The man and a group of friends reportedly got stuck in a lift between the third and fourth floors of the building.”
She added when they tried to open the lift doors, the man lost his balance and plunged four storeys down the lift shaft. Jaws-of-life had to be used to force open the lift doors .The man sustained several serious injuries.
He passed away on arrival at the Netcare Christiaan Barnard Hospital.
