The Democratic Alliance will be going head on with the African National Congress on a quest to build on earlier successes in six municipal by-elections in the Western Cape tomorrow.
The DA is to contest four wards in Cape Town and two of the four were held by the ANC and the remaining by independent councilors.
All these post became vacant when councilors failed to attend council meetings, and were then expelled by Minister Anton Bradell.
In May the DA won the by-elections in Grabouw and Gugulethu, black wards that had been held by the ANC since 1994.
The by-elections will be on Wednesday 22 July 2010 and the IEC has revealed that 90 candidates are contesting.
