Lusanda Bill
24 July 2010
The unions in the public servants sector have given the state a stern warning to stop using delay tactics in order to avoid a nation wide strike.
Government made a wage offer increase of 6.5 percent but unions Hospersa, Denosa and Nupsaw did not accept and want an 8.6 percent wage increase.
Nomthandzo Mahlangu from Nupsaw’s has been reported as saying the 20.000 members of Nupsaw’s have been consultated and have agreed to go on a strike.
Meanwhile Denosa’s Asanda Pongqo stated that Denosa is still consulting its 72.000 members. So far members of Nupsaw will be filing their certificate for their seven days notice.
Then the strike will commence in the third week of August.
