The Cape Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday said it is strongly opposed to the Employment Equity Amendment Bill.

The chamber says the bill seeks to impose racial quotas on business.

Cape Chamber of Commerce’s head of human resources portfolio committee Michael Bagraim said surely this country has reached a stage where we should be dismantling race-based laws and not tightening them up.

Bagraim said the numbers are showing that there is much more representation in the work place from top, down in all levels are people designated individuals, black women and disable.
