Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato has condemned the act of police brutality which took place on Thursday at Cape Town CBD.

MEC Plato said he has taken the matter up with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate requesting a full investigation.

A video which has gone viral shows two police officers and two security guards kicking a naked man before arresting him.

“I believe there were so many security and safety people around the person. They could have easily pinned them man down, put handcuffs around his arms and take him into custody. It did not happen.

I am asking the provincial police commissioner for investigation and also for disciplinary action to be taken against the policemen involved, also the CDI security personal operating in the City of Cape Town,” Plato added.
