One man died four others injured

One man died and four others were injured after a bakkie and a motorbike collided along the R102 between Umhlali and Shakas Kraal this morning.

Netcare 911 Spokessperson Chris Botha paramedics arrive  at the scene and found the crumpled remains of the Bakkie lying on its roof across the roadway, the remains of the motorbike came to rest about a hundred meters from the point of impact. After the injured were triaged it was found that one of the bikers died while the other biker sustained life threatening injuries, the three occupants from the bakkie sustained serious injuries.

Botha said after the critically injured man was placed on a ventilator they transported him to the Nkosi Albert Luthuli hospital for the critical intervention that he required. The other patients were treated on scene and then transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
